Organic farming is not a new concept and we are doing it from ancient time. In this, agriculture is done without any chemicals, fertilizers and taking the production cost to the minimum by using all the possible natural ways.

It is a technique for high nutritious, chemical-free and healthy food. In the budget of 2019-20, Nirmala Sitharaman (FM) said about Zero budget natural farming and said it as a "back to the basics".

In India, the National Program on Organic Production (NPOP) is the regulatory body of organic farming working under the Agricultural and Processed Foods Export Development Authority (APEDA).

Organic farming's production is lesser as compared to inorganic farming. It becomes difficult to feed the entire population. It is not economical, as production is less.

Dependency on fertilizers, insecticides for production has increased after the green revolution. Soil health is a concern. Our current soil is more or less depleted and loosed the nutrients.

The groundwater level has decreased, high temperature, improper rain patterns and loss of animal habitat due to climate change.

The ways forward for organic farming are a better implementation of government schemes like Paramapragat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY).

 Soil health should be improved using Soil Health Card issued by the government. Greener ways of energy should be adopted for minimizing climate change.

 Rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, mixed farming, legume crops and crop diversification should be promoted. 

Way Forward


Organic farming can be a way for the betterment and doubling the farmer's income. By the organic farming- environment, conservation of natural habitat, rural development and SDG goals can be achieved. This way farmers can contribute much more to the economy and environment.

How to Improve Indian Financial System India had been successful in managing the global financial crisis of 2008 but present condition of its banking sector is worst.  The reasons for this are mounting bad loans, poor accounting standards and lax supervision.  India's ratio of NPA has grown from lowest to highest in 8 years among G-20 club.
